MAIN STAGE JAMMIN – 4 to 10 p.m.
After feasting on your favorite Jerk Cuisine, relax and enjoy the sizzling entertainment on Main Stage. A scorching mix of reggae, ska, soca and Mento keep patrons dancing right up to closing by the featured bands; Byron Lee’s Dragonaires, Soca Queen Allison Hinds, Reggae Pioneer Ken Boothe, Benaiah Band featuring Dean Frazer, Ambilique and more. Add the vibes of Hardcore Movement dropping the latest hits between sets, the antics of MCs Rich Davis and Ron Burke interacting with the audience, a fine climax to the festival.
DIGICEL CULTURAL STAGE – 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Connect with your cultural roots as storyteller Joan Andrea Hutchinson performs from her vast repertoire. See the winners of the Miss Jamaica Florida Pageant re-enact their cultural presentations which helped secured their respective titles. Poet Ivy Armstrong will be reading from her latest book. Groove to the reggae and soca rhythms of the Irie Connections Band, Moko Jumbie stilt walkers, limbo contortionist, “Bandana Goes Bashment” fashion show, Sierra Norwood Cultural Group, and a grand finale featuring performers interacting with the audience.
WESTERN UNION CULTURAL STAGE – Noon to 4 p.m.
Popular actor and comedian Chris "Johnny" Daley of "Lime Tree Lane" fame plays Anancy in a tribute to Jamaica’s National Heroes, in a dramatic presentation accompanied with songs by the Jamaica Folk Revue. Get a peek of Jamaica’s Indian heritage through a performance of traditional Indian dance and music. Be a part of the multi-cultural finale which will engage the audience in song and dance. Prizes and giveaways all day!
DOMINO TOURNAMENT – Noon to 7 p.m.
Ok, there is no Jerk Domino, but this competition is hot! The winners are awarded cash and bragging rights, more valuable to some than the cash. Stop by and share One Love and watch as they drop Six Love.
KIDZ FUN ZONE
Hula hoop, maypole dancing, egg and spoon race, three-legged races, bounce house, rides, slides, cotton candy, popcorn, ice-cream, hot dog, rock climbing, face painting and games - Lots of fun for the kids. $20 Valu-Pak allows choice of multiple rides
Cricket matches -10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Former West Indian cricket stars lead teams in a 20/20 competition organized by South Florida Cricket Alliance.
Netball -10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Champion all-star netball teams compete in spirited netball matches, featuring seniors and juniors.
Soccer -10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Soccer fans; check out the competitive match between two top South Florida teams, as they battle for the Jamaican Jerk Festival/All Star Soccer Trophy. Match begins at 2:00 pm.
PUBLIX JERK COOK-OFF & DEMONSTRATIONS
A main feature of the festival, the Publix Jerk Cook-Off is serious competition as individuals compete for cash, bragging rights and the coveted Dutch Pot Trophy. A distinguished panel of judges selects the winner. Other activities include fine cuisine Jerk demonstrations by renowned chefs as well as the celebrity cook-off featuring radio and television personalities in a quick-fire contest.
GRACE KITCHEN
Grace Foods’ top chef, Mazie Miller will be showcasing the use of the brand’s products in creating several tasteful jerk recipes. Chef Miller will be supported by other renowned culinary experts conducting demonstrations on fine jerk cuisine. Patrons will have an opportunity to sample these tasty creations and ask questions.
